The numbers are in and just released giving us the most popular baby names for 2010.  Some come as no surprise, but some, well, you decide.baby names

Once again, in America, the number one boy name is Jacob.  Twelveth year in a row, wow.  Sorry Twilight fans, probably not just about your Jacob, but also about the biblical Jacob.  Biblical names continue to be hot.

Girl names, number one is Isabella.  Tenth year in a row, so again, sorry Twilight fans, not just aboout you, because Twilight came out in 2005.  Maybe the names Jacob and Isabella got into the Twilight series because they were already popular.

And, I have to tell you Elvis has left the building.  For the first time since 1954, Elvis is not in the top 1000 names.  Other old names are doing good with a lot of names coming back from the 1990’s as we are seeing a lot of parents naming their children after their grandparents.

You may be interested in what is happening “across the pond”, I know I am when you hear something as telling as this.  The number one boy name in England in 2010 was Mohammad, jumping over Jack and Harry.  Wow! Mohammad, and it is not a name you find in the Bible, at least not directly.

What’s in a name?  A lot.

Come on everybody! I say now let’s play a game
I betcha I can make a rhyme out of anybody’s name
The first letter of the name, I treat it like it wasn’t there
But a B or an F or an M will appear
And then I say bo add a B then I say the name and Bonana fanna and a fo
And then I say the name again with an F very plain and a fee fy and a mo
And then I say the name again with an M this time and there isn’t any name that I can’t rhyme

Arnold!
Arnold, Arnold bo Barnold Bonana fanna fo Farnold
